En búsqueda de una relación de largo plazo entre crecimiento económico y desarrollo del sistema financiero

Abstract

En la última década se registró un importante crecimiento del sistema financiero que se reflejó en una mayor incidencia en el PIB. En este sentido, el objetivo del trabajo es analizar el efecto del desarrollo del sistema financiero sobre el crecimiento económico en Bolivia utilizando la metodología ARDL. El periodo de estudio abarca desde marzo de 1991 a marzo de 2015 y se estima el efecto de largo plazo de las variables que reflejan el comportamiento del sistema financiero sobre el crecimiento económico. Los resultados señalan que existe una relación positiva y significativa entre las variables que miden el desarrollo del sistema financiero (salvo el nivel del crédito) y el crecimiento económico aunque el efecto aún es moderado.
