Abstract

Governments from all around the world spend considerable amounts on IT, with the aim to improve efficiency, transparency, and to deliver more interactive services to citizens and businesses. Cloud computing is a fundamentally new approach to IT, which may lead to significant cost savings. At a time of financial crisis and of major fiscal constraints, cloud computing may be key to contain expenditures. Cloud computing offers the possibility of cutting costs, while still increasing computing capacity and introducing new products and services with a rapid time-to-market cycle.
