The incidence of Hunger

Abstract

In aansluiting op een vroeger artikel van de schrijver (Sukhatme [20]), waarvan de resultaten in het kort worden herhaald, gaat dit artikel verder in op het probleem van de honger op de wereld. Onderscheid wordt gemaakt tussen ondervoeding (undernutrion) en deficiente voeding (malnntrion). Beide begrippen worden gedefinieerd en schattingen van het percentage der mensheid, dat aan ondervoeding resp. deficiente voeding lijdt, worden afgeleid. In het tweede deel van het artikel wordt ingegaan op de kritiek die door C. Clark [6, 7] en M. K. Bennell [2] op eerdere schattingen van de omvang der honger is geleverd.
