Nafta, New Industrial Networks And “Informality:”

Abstract

In the world system, a primary interest of the U.S. has been to extend its dominance in Latin America. This article's objective is to center attention on the most recent phase of the relationship between the core and the capitalistic periphery from the viewpoint of Mexico since 1982. We emphasize the preoccupation of the American elites toward the Latin American informal sector, and, more concretely, on the unexpected theoretical foundation of such interest.
