Abstract

type="main" xml:lang="en"> This article provides a guide to the process of applying to the best globally ranked economics PhD programs, aimed at students of Australian universities. It covers issues related to coursework requirements, research assistant work, Honours or Masters thesis writing, letters of recommendation, the Graduate Record Examinations, the statement of purpose and general application strategy. Finally, it is suggested that the student not panic about admissions and that plenty of great economists come from outside the top departments.
