Abstract

Today there is a rethinking of the role of human capital, education, science and knowledge in the development of enterprises, regions and countries, as well as in increasing the competitiveness of the national economy. These factors highlight the problem of defining the concept of "competitiveness of the country", taking into account all the new substantive characteristics that it has acquired in recent years in the context of modern economics. The purpose of the article is to study the approaches of assessing the competitiveness of the national economy and the dynamics of Ukraine’s competitiveness by different methods in order to ensure its improvement. Objectives of the article: analysis of the concept of competitiveness of the national economy; research of theoretical and practical principles of assessing the competitiveness of the national economy; determining the dynamics of Ukraine’s competitiveness according to different approaches in order to increase it. Ensuring competitiveness is a dynamic process that involves creating and maintaining competitive advantages. Competitiveness of countries is assessed by various international organizations. The article analyzes the competitiveness of Ukraine according to the Global Competitiveness Index (GCI), developed and published by the World Economic Forum (WEF) and IMD World Competitiveness Ranking, IMD World Digital Competitiveness Ranking, IMD World Talent Ranking, developed and published by the World Competitiveness Center of International Institute for Management Development (IMD WCC). Given the low rating positions of Ukraine, it is advisable to develop a set of consistent organizational and managerial actions in the context of identifying priority national interests, to constantly monitor the factors that pose threats in order to eliminate and neutralize them in a timely manner. The priority of strengthening the competitiveness of the national economy is to strengthen the innovation vector of economic dynamics as a function of improving the macrostructural proportions of the economy and optimizing reproduction processes, in particular - through investment, tax and depreciation policies.
