Efectos de cambios monetarios sobre los precios industriales y agrícolas en Colombia: 1980-1990

Abstract

Este artículo tiene como objetivo analizar el efecto de un shock monetario sobre los precios industriales y agrícolas en Colombia. En particular se busca dar respuesta a las siguientes preguntas: ¿cuál índice de precios se ajusta más rápidamente ante un shock monetario?, ¿se afectan los precios relativos? Y finalmente, ¿responde un precio a shocks en el otro? Desde el punto de vista metodológico, la técnica utilizada, es una versión modificada de un modelo de Vectores Autorregresivos (VAR). El trabajo encuentra que un cambio en la cantidad de dinero afecta en mayor medida a los precios agrícolas que a los industriales, en el corto plazo. Pero en el largo plazo, el shock en M1 afecta en forma similar a los precios.
