Abstract

Motivación Una fragmentación geopolítica del comercio mundial, caracterizada por el surgimiento de dos bloques de países que restringen el comercio a los países que no pertenecen al mismo bloque, es un escenario que se ha vuelto más probable en los últimos tiempos. ¿Cómo afecta este riesgo geopolítico a las perspectivas comerciales y económicas de los países de América Latina y el Caribe? Ideas principales •Los países de América Latina y el Caribe difieren tanto en su grado de apertura comercial como en la composición geográfica de sus flujos comerciales. •Por lo tanto, presentan una exposición heterogénea al riesgo de una fragmentación del comercio por motivos geopolíticos. •Se cuantifica esta exposición por países y se analiza cómo América Latina puede aprovechar una mayor integración comercial con la Unión Europea para reducir los costes derivados de una eventual fragmentación del comercio internacional.
