El crecimiento de la industria fintech en China: un caso singular

Abstract

En apenas dos décadas, la República Popular China se ha consolidado como uno de los países más destacados en materia de fintech. Esta evolución es el resultado de una combinación singular de factores, entre los que destacan las deficiencias estructurales de su sistema financiero, el avance de su clase media y su actitud ante la privacidad, un elevado nivel de conectividad digital, el peso del comercio electrónico y una sucesión de políticas públicas y de regulaciones posibilistas. Adicionalmente, la emergencia de la industria fintech en China está marcada por el éxito de los grandes gigantes tecnológicos nacionales, que, recientemente, han iniciado una senda de expansión internacional. El Gobierno chino sigue apostando por el desarrollo de unos planes estratégicos ambiciosos, que, por primera vez, evidencian una mayor preocupación por la existencia de un marco de salvaguardas robusto en lo que respecta tanto a la clientela como a la estabilidad financiera.
