Mercados laborales y efectos heterogéneos de la educación en la adopción tecnológica en la agricultura peruana

Abstract

La investigación busca evidenciar la relación existente entre capital humano y adopción tecnológica en el agro peruano. Se postula que esta relación es no lineal debido a la participación de los individuos en los mercados laborales. Esto se podría deber a que altos retornos salariales al capital humano alejan a los trabajadores de la faena agrícola (en favor del trabajo remunerado), haciendo poco rentable la adopción tecnológica. Usando información del CENAGRO 2012, se estima la complejidad de las diferentes tecnologías agrícolas a partir del marco metodológico de Haussman y otros (2014) y se crean canastas tecnológicas con las que se estima un logit ordenado y, posteriormente, un probit ordenado bivariado. Los resultados confirman la hipótesis planteada. A partir de lo encontrado, se desprenden recomendaciones de política para mejorar la adopción tecnológica en el agro peruano. El presente estudio fue ganador del Concurso de Investigación Uso del IV Censo Nacional Agropecuario (CENAGRO) 2012, convocado en diciembre del 2013 por el Consorcio de Investigación Económica y Social (CIES) en coordinación con la FAO y el Ministerio de Agricultura y Riego (MINAGRI).
