Pautas para un turismo sostenible en la Isla Guañape Norte

Abstract

En el Perú, la actividad turística para observar especies marinas se realiza dentro de áreas importantes de reproducción. Entre esas localidades tenemos a las Islas Ballestas, Islas Guañape, Islas Palomino, Punta San Juan y Punta Coles las cuales son áreas naturales protegidas y forman parte de la Reserva Nacional Sistema de Islas, Islotes y Puntas guaneras (RNSIIPG). Debido a que la actividad turística en isla Guañape Norte tiene poco tiempo de operatividad, es preciso generar información para asegurar una actividad turística sostenible que no genere impactos en las poblaciones de pingüinos de Humboldt y lobos marinos chuscos. Con el fin generar información pertinente para asegurar que la actividad turística se realice de manera sostenible y evitando no generar impactos en las poblaciones del pingüino de Humboldt y el lobo marino chusco, esta investigación tiene como objetivo determinar en qué medida la actividad turística afecta a dichas especies. Para ello, se consideran variables relacionadas a dicha actividad como el número de turistas a bordo, la distancia de aproximación y la intensidad de sonido. Investigación ganadora del Concurso de Becas SERNANP para investigaciones en Áreas Naturales Protegidas, realizado en alianza estratégica con el Fondo de Promoción de las Áreas Naturales Protegidas del Perú (Profonanpe) y el Consorcio de Investigación Económica y Social (CIES).
