El oro y la escuela: caída de precios del oro y demanda educativa en Madre de Dios

Abstract

La Maldición de Recursos Naturales (MRN) hace referencia a que los países con abundancia de recursos naturales tienden a tener peores indicadores de desarrollo y gobernanza en comparación a aquellos que tienen menor cantidad de recursos (Humphreys et al 2007). El concepto se ha complejizado con los años, pasando de hablar de una maldición a nivel nacional a diversas maldiciones en distintas dimensiones y niveles sea regional, local, e incluso de hogar (Auty, 1993; CEPAL, 1950; Hirschman, 1958; Atkinson & Hamilton, 2003; Sawyer, 2004; Ross, 2008; Dunning, 2008; Haber & Menaldo, 2011; Collier & Hoeffler, 2005; Snyder, 2006). Incluso, se ha encontrado que el efecto de la presencia de recursos naturales no siempre es negativo. Este estudio se desarrolló como resultado del XXII Concurso Anual de Investigación CIES 2020, con el auspicio de la Fundación Manuel J. Bustamante de la Fuente, el Fondo Fiduciario de la ONU para Eliminar la Violencia contra la Mujer (ONU Mujeres), el Centro Internacional de Investigaciones para el Desarrollo (IDRC, por sus siglas en inglés) y el Consorcio de Investigación Económica y Social (CIES).
