El pan nuestro de todos los años: efectos heterogéneos de los huaicos en hogares rurales productores agropecuarios

Abstract

En los últimos años, el cambio climático ha sido considerado uno de los temas de mayor preocupación social y económica. Este problema ha incrementado la frecuencia y la intensidad de los desastres naturales en el Perú. Frente a este contexto, esta investigación busca analizar el impacto que tienen los huaicos, uno de los desastres naturales de mayor ocurrencia en el país, sobre el bienestar (gasto e ingreso) y actividad productiva (concentración de cultivos) de los hogares agropecuarios en el Perú. Los resultados muestran que la ocurrencia de huaicos tiene efectos heterogéneos en las variables de bienestar y actividad productiva, y la magnitud de estos es diferenciada según el periodo de análisis y tipo de efecto (directo o indirecto) analizados. Este estudio se desarrolló como resultado del XIX Concurso Anual de Investigación CIES 2017, con el auspicio de Global Affairs Canada (GAC), el Centro Internacional de Investigaciones para el Desarrollo (IDRC, por sus siglas en inglés), la Fundación Manuel J. Bustamante De la Fuente, la Superintendencia Nacional de Aduanas y de Administración Tributaria (SUNAT) y el Consorcio de Investigación Económica y Social (CIES).
