Auge agroexportador en el Perú: un análisis de sobrevivencia de productos y empresas

Abstract

En la investigación se analiza la capacidad de sobrevivencia de productos y empresas agroexportadoras peruanas en últimas tres décadas con el objetivo de identificar factores explicativos que puedan orientar políticas públicas. Los hallazgos otorgan sustento a estrategias de ampliación de escala y llegada a más mercados con un rol promotor del Estado para reducir costo hundidos. Algunas diferencias en la sobrevivencia de productos dependen de mercado de destino como USA, Alemania, Gran Bretaña, España y China. En el caso de empresas, la escala es importante pero también formas de organización. Por ejemplo, las cooperativas muestran alta capacidad de sobrevivencia en productos tradicionales como café y bananos. Un hallazgo importante del estudio se refiere a la mayor sobrevivencia de empresas en zonas con creciente presencia femenina en la mano de obra agrícola. Este estudio se desarrolló como resultado del XX Concurso Anual de Investigación CIES 2018, con el auspicio de Global Affairs Canada (GAC), el Centro Internacional de Investigaciones para el Desarrollo (IDRC, por sus siglas en inglés), la Fundación Manuel J. Bustamante De la Fuente, la Superintendencia Nacional de Aduanas y de Administración Tributaria (SUNAT) y el Consorcio de Investigación Económica y Social (CIES).
