Habilidades, formación para el trabajo y sub-empleo juvenil: un enfoque de ciclo de vida

Abstract

La investigación utiliza información longitudinal del estudio Niños del Milenio para establecer cuáles son los aspectos más importantes que predicen una adecuada formación para el trabajo a los 22 años. Los resultados revelan el rol que cumplen las habilidades cognitivas, las competencias socioemocionales, y el nivel socioeconómico del hogar para explicar el acceso a instituciones y carreras de educación superior de un alto retorno en el mercado laboral. Asimismo, muestran la importancia de las habilidades blandas y de la educación superior técnica para acceder a empleos formales y a mejores ingresos. En todos los casos se observan brechas de género en contra de las mujeres, que no son explicadas por diferencias en habilidades, educación, capacitación, actitudes ni embarazo/convivencia adolescente Este estudio se desarrolló como resultado del XX Concurso Anual de Investigación CIES 2018, con el auspicio de Global Affairs Canada (GAC), el Centro Internacional de Investigaciones para el Desarrollo (IDRC, por sus siglas en inglés), la Fundación Manuel J. Bustamante De la Fuente, la Superintendencia Nacional de Aduanas y de Administración Tributaria (SUNAT) y el Consorcio de Investigación Económica y Social (CIES).
