Determinantes de las brechas salariales entre hombres y mujeres en el sector turismo peruano: un análisis de descomposiciones por cuantiles

Abstract

El título completo de la investigación es "Determinantes de las brechas salariales entre hombres y mujeres en el sector turismo peruano: un análisis de descomposiciones por cuantiles". Su objetivo es estimar los determinantes de las brechas salariales de género en el sector turismo peruano, utilizando una metodología de descomposición por cuantiles (Machado y Mata, 2005) y la Encuesta Nacional de Hogares entre los años 2004 – 2017. Las brechas fueron descompuestas en dos componentes a lo largo de la distribución de ingresos: una parte explicada por diferencias en las características laborales (educación, edad, etc.) y una parte explicada por diferencias en los retornos de tales características. Para trabajadores asalariados, la brecha es explicada por diferencias en las características laborales entre hombres y mujeres. Para trabajadores independientes en turismo, la brecha es explicada por diferencias en la valoración de las características laborales entre hombres y mujeres. Este estudio se desarrolló como resultado del XX Concurso Anual de Investigación CIES 2018, con el auspicio de Global Affairs Canada (GAC), el Centro Internacional de Investigaciones para el Desarrollo (IDRC, por sus siglas en inglés), la Fundación Manuel J. Bustamante De la Fuente, la Superintendencia Nacional de Aduanas y de Administración Tributaria (SUNAT) y el Consorcio de Investigación Económica y Social (CIES).
