Percepción de inseguridad: Determinantes y narrativas

Abstract

Los factores que explican la alta percepción de inseguridad son poco conocidos. El objetivo del estudio busca cubrir este vacío tomando cuatro teorías centrales (victimización, vulnerabilidad, desorden social y desorganización social) con una estrategia metodológica mixta. Los objetivos son (1) identificar causas individuales y contextuales, (2) diferenciar percepción de inseguridad aditiva de sinérgica, (3) comprender la narrativa de inseguridad (agenda setting) por sexo y nivel socioeconómico, y (4) identificar trayectos de noticias con un enfoque transmedial. Los resultados muestran que la victimización está asociada a una mayor percepción de inseguridad pero bajo un efecto de violencia y jerarquía. Las mujeres sienten menos inseguridad y el contexto físico así como las variables no ligadas a lo delictivo (ansiedad desplazada) tienen un rol importante. Los hábitos de consumo informativo (televisión y medios digitales) impactan sobre la percepción de noticias de inseguridad. Adicionalmente, existe una estrecha relación entre consonancia subjetiva (congruencia entre noticias y entorno) y la jerarquización de problemas en la agenda pública. Este estudio se desarrolló como resultado del XIX Concurso Anual de Investigación CIES 2017, con el auspicio de Global Affairs Canada (GAC), el Centro Internacional de Investigaciones para el Desarrollo (IDRC, por sus siglas en inglés), la Fundación Manuel J. Bustamante De la Fuente, la Superintendencia Nacional de Aduanas y de Administración Tributaria (SUNAT) y el Consorcio de Investigación Económica y Social (CIES).
