Empleo informal y bienestar subjetivo en el Perú: orientando las políticas públicas para un desarrollo social integral

Abstract

El bienestar subjetivo constituye un indicador social con mucho potencial para el análisis y comprensión del desarrollo económico y social. En este documento se exploran las dimensiones relevantes para la determinación del bienestar subjetivo en el caso peruano, así como la influencia que en él ejerce la condición de informalidad del empleo. La evidencia señala que desempeñarse en un empleo formal aumenta la probabilidad de sentirse satisfecho tanto con la vida como con el trabajo; sin embargo, esta situación no es concluyente en relación con los informales que se desempeñan en el sector formal. De esta forma, se devela una faceta más de la heterogeneidad propia a la economía informal. Segmentos, actores, actitudes y motivaciones divergen al interior de este sector de la economía. Los diversos elementos identificados como relevantes para las personas en el proceso de evaluación individual del bienestar pueden servir de guía para priorizar objetivos en la elaboración de políticas públicas. Este estudio se desarrolló como resultado del XV Concurso Anual de Investigación CIES 2013, con el auspicio del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores, Comercio y Desarrollo de Canadá (DFATD, por sus siglas en inglés), el Centro Internacional de Investigaciones para el Desarrollo (IDRC, por sus siglas en inglés) y la Fundación Manuel J. Bustamante de la Fuente.
