Abstract

ABI, through the European Banking Report, and Ubs have recently conducted a survey on the opportunities, risks and market trends of Italian banks for next three years addressed to top managers of 32 Italian banking groups and 34 international institutional investors. The responses of the 4 major banking groups, the medium-sized groups and institutional investors differ in views on current and prospective scenarios. Improvement of customer relations seem to play a central role in defining future strategies of all banking groups, as well as European regulation and Basel 2 pro-cyclicality are considered significant risk factors.
