Abstract

The current security job market has become increasingly difficult to navigate. The uncertainty this can cause for CIOs, on top of their mounting workload, is difficult to address and causes increased risk for the organisation. While security roles may remain empty for extended periods of time, what CIOs are certain of are the key traits they are looking for in their next security leader. This paper reflects on surveyed opinions of CIOs, detailing the non-negotiable qualities required for a security leader to effectively meet the needs of the board and protect their organisation from cyberattack.
