The Contribution Of Ict/Is To The Operating Efficiency Of Hotel Companies

Abstract

The paper shows the results of contribution of information and communication technologies and information systems (ICT/IS) to the operating efficiency of hotel companies. Operating efficiency is seen as an important element in the overall company efficiency. The research was conducted in the largest hotel companies in the Istria County, the most developed tourist region in the Republic of Croatia (RH). The opinions of researched company managers about the contribution of ICT/IS to the operating efficiency in hotel companies have been collected by a survey questionnaire in 2008 and 2009 (before the economic crisis). The research comprised the impact of ICT/IS on 18 elements which were recognized as those contributing to the operating efficiency. After data processing, the results show that ICT/IS contribute to the company operating efficiency.
