Abstract

Every tourist destination has its characteristics with respect to natural resources, historic background, traffic infrastructure, accommodation facilities, lodging, entertainment and trade, traffic characteristics, information availability, etc. The quality of each segment of supply influences the quality of the total tourist supply. To collect primary data on the tourist supply in the city of Dubrovnik, an opinion poll was conducted among various categories of hotel accommodation facilities, private accommodation, and camps in the period between 1 July and 1 August 2004. The average mark of 3.116 is relatively satisfactory, but it does not reveal relative weaknesses and shortcomings in the tourist supply. A more detailed analysis of tourist supply by segments showed that tourist supply could be upgraded by providing a wider availability of sports facilities, taxi transport as well as coffee bars. Such improvements may boost both the finances and tourist satisfaction of the resort.
