Abstract

The main objective of present study is to understand the vortical structure development and evolution of a low-speed rectangular jet via smoke flow visualization. The side- and front-view near the jet exit are utilized simultaneously to know the development relationship in detail. Results not only confirm the development of vortex ring but also indicate this process has strong relationship with the vortical structure development in a plane jet.
