Abstract

Este artigo examina algumas das inovações introduzidas por Celso Furtado no estudo da evolução da economia brasileira do século XIX, em sua obra, Formação Econômica do Brasil, parte IV, intitulada: “Economia de transição para o trabalho assalariado”. Uma das principais inovações é, sem dúvida, a utilização de conceitos teóricos de Economia e modelos macroeconômicos que levam o autor a interpretações, em alguns casos, radicalmente opostas àquelas dos historiadores econômicos que o precederam..
