An Der Schwelle Zwischen Orient Und Okzident

Abstract

Der im Jahre 2003 erschienene Roman "Das Tuch aus Nacht" stammt von Christoph Peters, dem zeitgenössischen Autor der deutschen Literatur. Das Sujet und die Erzähltechnik bieten eine Fülle von Untersuchungsmaterial. Der Titel, das Teppichmotiv und die Nachtsymbolik scheinen uns bei der Erschließung des literarischen Textes von Relevanz zu sein, weshalb diese als primäre Untersuchungsobjekte herangezogen werden. Es wird außerdem versucht, sowohl die Degeneration des Protagonisten als auch die dekadente Schilderung der Stadt (Istanbul) nachvollzuziehen und deren Hintergründe aufzudecken. Dabei wird nachgegangen, ob man bei der Darstellung der Stadt (Istanbul) und des Landes (Türkei) eine Art ästhetische Orientalistik betreibt. Anschließend schneidet man die rezeptive Wirkung des Romans an, die beim deutschen Lesepublikum hervorgerufen hat.
