The entrepreneurship paradigm

Abstract

Numerous investigations have raised the question about the reasons which motivate people to become entrepreneurs and start-up their own company. To address the phenomenon of entrepreneurship, distance must be taken; it is not enough to focus on the characteristics and behaviors of entrepreneurs individually, since there is no one universal set of applicable reasons for each and every case, but each person has its own reasons to add complexity that may change throughout their lives. The aim of this article is to reflect on the paradigm forged around the creation of enterprises in academic, government and social environments and the specific existing opportunities in the actors’ roles. An analysis of the challenge that universities, professional education institutions, governments — in three levels of management — and society as a whole must face to have a consistent and harmonious living that leads to the activation of the economy is presented.
