The Role Of Romanian National Bank In Ensuring Free Movement Of Services

Abstract

The completion of the accession negotiations on Chapter 3 “Freedom to provide services†, the strengthening of the central bank's independence, the drafting and coming into force of the two major laws governing the banking sector (The Banking Act and the Statute of the NBR), as well as the initiation of preparations for the central bank's participation in the European System of Central Banks (ESCB) rank among the NBR's major achievements related to EU accession. In Keeping with the objectives pursued in the field of European Integration, the NBR made further efforts to ensure institutional, structural and operational adjustment of the Romanian economy to the EU requirements.
