Abstract

The article examines the processes of energy transition and the achievement of carbon neutrality in Brazil as part of the development of a national green economy and the fight against global climate change. The key points of the climate agenda, the dynamics and structure of greenhouse gas emissions are considered in relation to the energy matrix and long-term energy policy. A comparative analysis of the country within the framework of the BRICS is carried out according to certain indicators characterizing the level of development of the green economy. Based on the results of the study, the possible impact of Brazil’s modern approaches to the climate agenda on the nature of future trade and economic ties with Russia is assessed and promising areas for the development of bilateral business cooperation are highlighted.
