Prospects for creating a single commodity exchange in the EAEU countries

Abstract

The article deals with the concept of a common commodity exchange market in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), indicates the main directions and objectives of its creation. The author characterizes the activities of domestic commodity exchanges in the EAEU countries, identifies the problems associated with their differences, and determines the need for a unified list of exchange commodities and unification of standards. On the example of proposals submitted by Russia and Belarus, basic approaches to the creation of a common commodity exchange are characterized. It is concluded that the EAEU common commodity exchange could foster economic growth and strengthen economic security of the domestic commodity markets of the member states.
