Abstract

The article analyzes foreign economic relations between the United States and France at the beginning of XXI century. The main forms of these relations, their volumes, dynamics, and factors influencing their development are examined. It is shown that these relations are large-scale and mutually beneficial, and cover a large number of industries and sectors of the two countries’ economies. A leading role of foreign direct investment among key forms of international economic activities marked a new trend in relations between two countries (instead of traditional exports of goods), with France coming out on top, and the USA barely retaining its leadership in trade in goods and services, as well as in international technology transfer. All in all, strong foreign economic relations support partnership between two countries and, despite occasional economic differences, allow them to use international division of labour and foreign economic relations in the interests of their social and economic development.
