Abstract

The automotive industry is one of the manufacturing sectors with the greatest adoption of 4.0 technologies. Our aim in this article is to understand the scope and features of the digital transformation process in the Argentine automotive industry, with special emphasis on auto parts suppliers. We use a qualitative methodological approach. The main results indicate that the introduction of digital technologies is a necessary condition to participate in the automotive value chain; however, there are differences in their adoption among firms in different activities. Moreover, industrial policy has a key role to stimulate that process and the article also seeks to contribute to that sense.
