Puntos De Giro En La Economía Argentina

Abstract

The goal of this paper is to identify the turning points in Argentina Republic. The period is 1900-2011 for annual dates and 1980:q1-2012:q2 for quarterly dates. The paper provides the latest pivot points and those that allow considering a long term perspective. The methods used are: analysis of quarterly growth rates of GDP, nonparametric algorithms like Bry-Boschan and Harding-Pagan, and finally a parametric Markov switching model.
