Evolución y estructura de los ingresos de la Real Hacienda en el largo siglo XVIII (1680-1807)

Abstract

Este trabajo analiza la evolución de los ingresos totales de la Real Hacienda y de su estructura entre 1680 y 1807. Tras estancarse en la primera mitad del siglo, los ingresos del Tesoro aumentaron notablemente, pero crecieron menos en términos reales. El estancamiento de 1730-1742 se explica por el colapso recaudatorio de las Rentas Provinciales, mientras que el crecimiento de 1762-1792 fue impulsado por las rentas de aduanas, los monopolios y las remesas de Indias, tras los decretos liberalizadores del comercio americano, mientras que las guerras iniciadas en 1793 fueron financiadas con ingresos extraordinarios (deuda y donativos). Una comparación con el Tesoro británico muestra que los recursos del Tesoro español crecieron mucho menos, debido a una serie de factores explicados en las conclusiones.
