Abstract

Analytic hierarchy process -AHP- is used to propose and evaluate a decision model that guide the choice of the most suited origin label type to be implemented within agri-food products with quality linked to territory. Three dimensions compose the model: territorial link of production, product recognition, related to aspects required in the regulation, and territorial dynamics related to collective action capabilities, membership and organizational proximity. The model was valued by 16 experts, scholars and origin labels consultants in Spain. Expert group considers that territorial link of production (46.32%) is the most important dimension for the selection label: territorial dynamics (28.3%) resulted more important than product recognition (25.3%). PDO was considered the more demanding alternative for almost every element of the model, followed by the PGI, except for some subcriterion linked to the territorial dynamics, for which collective mark was regarded more demanding.
