Abstract

The study of this fact is considered in this article from the Diffusion Models Innovation view point, and is applied to figures of organic agriculture evolution in Spain, Murcia and Andalucia during the last 10 years. Its estimation and analysis allows us to identify the most important characteristics of this process: first, the diffusion of organic agriculture is mainly determined by imitation effect. Second, and considering the available data, the process seems to reach its inflection point in 1998 in our country. The knowledge of the way this diffusion process takes place can be very useful for the planning and performance of agricultural policies addressed to overcome certain barriers that organic agriculture still has for its establishment.
