Abstract

Today, as never before, economic, social, political and cultural dynamics demand creativity and innovation. The agrifood sector is no exception and has to face the challenges imposed by a planet in full deterioration of its natural resources and in constant population growth. Climate change is pressing for an economy that is less intensive in polluting emissions, more efficient in the use of natural resources and more resistant to the impacts of this phenomenon. This work aims to demonstrate and describe how the INNOVAGRO Award, an international initiative sponsored by the INNOVAGRO Network, has promoted innovation in the agrifood sector, articulate the work developed by members of the Network and, at the same time, expose the work developed by the winners of this award. An exploratory and descriptive analysis is made of the innovations participating in the award and, in a general way, how it has evolved over time and what results it has had six years after its creation.
