Abstract

The municipality of La Palma, Cundinamarca bases its economy on agriculture and livestock, in which the sowing of coffee is the core of its development. La Asociación de Caficultores de la Palma "ASOPARIBARI" (The Association of Coffee Growers from the Palma Town) organized families in the area, to seek improvement of the processes of community organization, productivity and coffee sustainability. On the other hand, la Federación Nacional de Cafeteros de Colombia (the Colombian Coffee Growers Federation) promotes projects for the construction of power plants to enhance the quality of the grain and derivative products. One of such projects is the construction and operation of a coffee processing plant in which it was assigned to administer: La Asociación de Caficultores de la Palma “ASOPARIBARI”. However, some doubts arise, such as: is the construction of the power center justified? Can the association operate the power center at full capacity? Do they (the association) have enough logistic capacity to execute the project? Are the members willing to take their coffee to the association? Is there enough credibility regarding the managers of the association?. These and more questions come up when thinking about this project, since, if a previous study is not done, the project can become a great difficulty for the association and a waste of both economic and human resources. This project seeks to determine the technical feasibility, which will allow to advise the association of producers on the relevance of continuing or not with the process for the construction of this power center and advising recommendations to improve the organizational processes, through the application of the methodology of the Índice de Capacidades Organizacionales en Comunidades Cafeteras, ICOCC (Organizational Capabilities Index in Coffee Communities).
