Abstract

The study of the spatial distribution of the production of coffee between the 558 micro Brazilian regions is the main aim of this paper. The research is for the period 1991 to 2003. This paper enables us to identify spatial regimes and clusters for coffee’s production and also it’s dynamic during the period. To reach the objective we use the idea of locational quotient to measure the concentration in the production of coffee and also the exploratory spatial data analysis. It was possible to verify that the spatial structure of production of coffee remains spatially concentrated, mainly at Minas Gerais and Espirito Santo states. Those states represent 70.66% of total production of coffee. The result for some micro regions located at Rondonia is also important.
