Abstract

Subject and purpose of work: The current study discusses the possibilities of professional activation of people with health issues. Due to health problems they find themselves at the margin of professional, social and family life. This article is an attempt to explore support instruments offered by the Social Insurance Institution people with health issues can choose from. Materials and methods: Data of Statistics Poland and data generally available on the website www.zus.pl has been used for the study. Results: Return to work of people with health issues is a complex process and it concerns a significant number of the working age population. It should be noted that their professional activation depends on many factors such as currently available medical knowledge, access to medical services, as well as the belief in the possibility of returning to work or access to insurance support.. Conclusions: Coherent programmes and action plans of the Social Insurance Institution develop effective mechanisms supporting return to work of people with health issues. Key solutions for such people should focus on their support in coping with current problems, as well as launching activities to improve their working conditions.
