Abstract

The high level of regulation hinders the growth of the health functional food industry, although the consumers’ food choices shift from the emphasis on taste and nutrients to safety and health. This paper investigates how the companies that produce health functional food show different attitudes toward the regulations of health functional food. Most companies and related workers in the health functional food industry appear to be in favor of deregulation for the growth of the industry. However, it is analyzed that health functional food companies with a large number of individual raw materials oppose reducing the conversion period.
