Abstract

------------------------------------------------------ Agricultural land cannot remain in Hungarian ownership, unless it can provide to land owners adequate income and security in life. Without these, land – this “gift of God” – will go into the possession of foreign owners, no matter what kind of legislation is adopted! A possible guarantee could be the parallel creation of family farms of adequate size with capital strength, on the one hand, and large co-operatives, on the other hand, through the alliance of sovereign land owners. Otherwise small busines¬ses will fail, and the land will be taken over by agricultural entrepreneurs who have capital strength. In this scenario, Hungarian agricultural producers would work as wage labourers on commodity producing latifundia owned by foreigners!
