National labor market rigidities

Abstract

In the early years of transition, Romania has experienced an explosion of unemployment on the basis of changes in the national economy. Through the process of restructuring / privatization of state companies has changed the structure of employment, employment in the state sector is reduced, while the private sector workforce has increased. This article aims to present rigidities in the labor market, unemployment and employment developments before and during the economic downturn but also deals with the phenomenon of migration, a phenomenon that has gained momentum in recent years. The evolution of employment and unemployment in the period 2000-2012, addressing features of both unemployment and employment of the Romanian economy.
