Abstract

Globalization is the process that concentrated the public and academic attention in the last decade. Drivers and outcomes of assumed transformation were submitted to a through analysis. Its results were diverse enough to polarize opinions, but not enough for distinguish between contradictory opinions. Among the controversial aspects we bring into discussion the impact on food production and processing, sector that is up taken by corporations in name of hygiene and modernity ideals and on the harm of the diversity and sustainability. We consider that from these points of view the trends are inscribed on an unfavorable direction that will lead to the irreversible degradation of environment and dehumanization of social categories with precarious material situation.
