Abstract

Due to its tremendous contribution in preventing and controlling most infectious diseases, promotion of appropriate hand hygiene practice has been recognized as an important public health measure. However, globally infectious diseases remain the leading causes of child hood mortality and morbidity accounting for 65% of all deaths in under-five children which can be prevented if proper sanitation and hygiene measure undertaken. Despite the unquestionable evidence in favor of hand washing, it is observed that young children and their mothers in developing countries fail to practice this habit at critical times.
