Abstract

This paper aims to shed light on a very important topic, which is the quality of research in Islamic economics, by commenting on Al-Suhaibani’s paper entitled “Improving the quality of research in Islamic economics: The Co-authorship Approach ”, in addition to addressing other dimensions to improve the quality of research in the field of Islamic economics. As such, it first addresses the standards of the quality of scientific research through standards related to the researcher and standards related to the research. It then discusses the status of research in Islamic economics through addressing the status of specialized journals in Islamic economics classified in international databases. It then moves on to discuss the obstacles to research in Islamic economics. Finally, the mechanisms for raising the level of research in Islamic economics were discussed. The paper reached a set of results, the most important of which are that research in Islamic economics needs great efforts to improve its quality, whether through the approach of joint authorship or through the approach of classifying specialized journals in international databases, or through the approach of establishing and developing research centers specialized in Islamic economics and finance.
