Análisis de competitividad de los países de la Comunidad Andina de Naciones

Abstract

Este artículo presenta un análisis descriptivo de los factores determinantes de la competitividad en los países miembros de la Comunidad Andina de Naciones -CAN, entre 1990 y 2012. A partir de los indicadores de desarrollo del Banco Mundial y la CEPAL, se analiza los elementos clave donde se identifica el progreso o deterioro de variables propias de competitividad. En general, se presentan mejorías en infraestructura, mientras que el avance en materia de ciencia y tecnología refleja estancamiento. Los resultados se muestran disímiles y no permiten determinar qué país se encuentra en mejores condiciones con relación a todos los factores. Colombia muestra progreso en resultados de ciencia y tecnología, así como Ecuador. Perú se destaca en términos laborales, y Bolivia, pese a algunas mejoras, expone deficientes condiciones. ******** This article presents a descriptive analysis of competitiveness determinant factors in the countries members of the Andean Community, between 1990 and 2012. From the World Bank and CEPAL development indicators, the key elements are analyzed where the progress or deterioration of proper competitiveness variables is identified. In general, they present improvements in infrastructure, whereas the science and technology advance reflects stagnation. The results prove to be dissimilar and do not allow establishing which country is in better condition in relation to all the factors. Colombia shows progress in science and technology results, as well as Ecuador. Peru stands out in labor terms, and Bolivia, in spite of some improvements, exposes deficient conditions.
