Hospitalizaciones y Oferta Laboral del Hogar: Caso Peruano, 2007 – 2021

Abstract

Este artículo analiza el impacto de las hospitalizaciones en la oferta laboral de los hogares peruanos, utilizando datos de panel de las encuestas ENAHO para el periodo 2011-2019. Se emplea una estrategia de diferencias en diferencias (DiD) con doble efecto fijo y estudios de eventos para identificar la relación causal entre las hospitalizaciones y las horas laborales del hogar. Los resultados revelan un efecto negativo significativo de las hospitalizaciones en la oferta laboral, lo que sugiere que estos eventos de salud pueden tener consecuencias económicas importantes para las familias. El análisis también explora la heterogeneidad de los efectos según la estructura familiar y la dinámica del impacto a lo largo del tiempo. Esta tesis se desarrolló como parte del proyecto “Hacia una nueva generación de docentes en las universidades de regiones“, ejecutado por el CIES con el apoyo de la Fundación Bustamante de la Fuente.
