Utilisation et coût de l’hébergement avec soins de longue durée au Québec, 2010 à 2050

Abstract

Dans cette étude, nous projetons, à l’aide d’un modèle qui simule la santé des Québécois, les besoins futurs d’hébergement avec soins de longue durée au Québec d’ici 2050. Nous estimons le nombre de place et les coûts associés à ces places. De plus, nous évaluons un nombre de scénarios qui pourraient soit augmenter ou diminuer les besoins futurs. Si rien ne change, nous projetons que les besoins de places en établissement de soins de longue durée augmenteront de 75 100 en 2010 à 196 900 en 2050, avec des coûts passant de 3,2 à 8,4 milliards en dollars constants, ce qui apparaît insoutenable. Ces besoins accrus sont en bonne partie tributaires d’une amélioration soutenue de l’espérance de vie.
