Abstract

"German language proficiency is key to the integration of refugees in labor market and society. What factors drive second language acquisition processes and what experiences do refugees make when learning German? The present multi-method IAB Brief Report tackles these questions by drawing on a representative sample of refugees in Germany (https://doi.org/10.1093/jrs/feab038) as well as on extensive qualitative interviews with refugee language learners (https://doku.iab.de/forschungsbericht/2020/fb1320.pdf)."
