Abstract

El movimiento ilustrado del siglo XVIII es conocido en España por su esfuerzo modernizador y sus proyectos de reforma económica y social. En línea con la Ilustración europea, los ideales del liberalismo clásico y el utilitarismo comenzaron a extenderse de la mano de los intelectuales ilustrados como paradigma hacia el bienestar de las personas. Las raíces de la Economía de la Felicidad se remontan a los estudiosos del siglo XVIII a través de la asociación realizada entre el desarrollo económico de la sociedad y el nivel de felicidad. Este trabajo analiza el proyecto de la Real Sociedad Económica de Amigos del País Sevillana para comerciar con la provincia de Buenos Aires como un caso de estudio de la conexión entre desarrollo económico, bienestar y felicidad en la Ilustración española a través del estudio de la Libro de Actas nº 1 (1775-1780) y el Libro de Correspondencia de la Sociedad, así como los documentos sueltos disponibles en el Archivo Municipal de Sevilla.
